“We have been active participants in churches since we were teenagers, doing everything from cleaning carpets, painting walls, to serving on various program and administrative committees. We have been inspired by various pastors and enriched and encouraged by a remarkably close church community. We have attended church in temples and mud huts.
Through all of our experiences, we have felt the closest to God while backpacking in the wilderness, enjoying ocean views, visiting jungle villages, and seeing the poor and needy around the world helped by loving people. We wonder what God thinks when we build magnificent edifices but somehow ignore the homeless person that sleeps by the edifice.
Our home is built so we can enjoy creation and feel we are part of that creation. In like manner, The Land brings us close to creation, respects the original inhabitants of The Land, respects nature, has good leadership and a supportive community, and has the main project of providing food for the hungry. We can wander through the beauty of creation, feel God’s Spirit, without the encumbrance of an edifice. We are all part of God.”
