Of all the events we have at The Land, I think our eco-friendly Trunk or Treat is the most spectacular. To me, there is no better expression of the importance of The Land’s mission than Trunk-or-Treat.
We are a community committed to reshaping traditions in ways that honor all of God’s creation. Reusing, reducing, recycling, and composting are spiritual practices at The Land. We exist not only to experiment with these practices in traditional rituals but to inspire other communities to do the same.
In our consumer culture, a preoccupation with “more” often holds us back and drives us into patterns of wastefulness. More candy, more cars, crafts, more kids… but The Land’s Trunk or Treat celebration is the manifestation of what “enough” feels like to me. Trunk or Treat is an event I would organize and participate in even if there were no children.
Traditions built upon love and thoughtfulness… sweet homemade treats, creative costumes, and a service filled with silliness…these are the moments that at any age, we should never waste. These are the priceless reminders that whatever we already have and whoever we already are, have always been more than enough.
