Replying to Paul Today

The letters of Paul collected in the New Testament contain many wise and beautiful passages, along with some passages we struggle with today (for various reasons). They have also been hugely influential - for better and for worse - in shaping notions of Christian community and ethics throughout the course of Christian history. Yet each letter was originally one side of a conversation. We don’t have the letters Paul was answering in his day. But what if we wrote our own letter back to Paul? What would we at The Land have to say about who we are as a community, and the concerns we face, nearly 2000 years later? Eric will explore this idea in a conversational format, putting portions of Paul’s letter to the Philippians in dialogue with The Land and its context.
