Worship at The Land: A Demonstration Plot: Clarence Jordan and Koinonia Farm

  • The Land UMC 840 South Powhaton Road Aurora, CO, 80018 United States (map)

Matthew 5:1-10

Beginning our series "Saints, Mystics and Misfits," Eric will explore the story of Clarence Jordan (1912-1969) - minister, farmer and community builder. In 1942, Jordan co-founded a community in Georgia called Koinonia Farm. It was an experiment in sustainable farming after many farms failed during the Great Depression, and also an experiment in creating interracial community in the segregated South. Above all, it was (and is) an experiment in living out the Gospel, sometimes called “a demonstration plot for the Kingdom of God.” While the context of The Land is very different, perhaps there is something we can learn from the story of Koinonia Farm and the vision of its founding leader.
