This week’s text invites us to think about who or what we use as guiding wisdom, pointing us toward the importance of paying attention to which truths are taken seriously, are given loyalty, and are allowed to shape one’s inner and outer life. One way to pay attention as we seek wisdom is prayer. What can prayer tell us about what we believe about the divine and how we worship God? What is the right balance of private and communal prayer, of seeking divine wisdom in our lives? What happens when we, like Jesus, understand ourselves as potential sites of “God in the flesh?” How does or should that shape our prayer life? We will wrestle with these questions and more this weekend at The Land UMC.
